A better front door.
A smarter way forward.

What began as an attempt to improve a brokerage webpage became a connected real estate experience, with clearer guidance, interactive resources, and a visual identity that brings the parts together.

The destination

One place to begin. Several ways to move.

A branded hub where visitors can find practical guidance, explore tools, and connect with Kelvin without having to start with a property listing.

01 / The beginning

I jumped in to help make it useful.

My husband, Kelvin, is a real estate agent affiliated with Fathom Realty. He was trying to improve the brokerage-provided site, but its limitations made it hard to build the experience he wanted. He wasn't particularly comfortable sending people there.

The question grew from how to improve that page to how we could create something more useful for people navigating a real estate decision.

Rather than asking the brokerage site to do everything, I simplified it and gave it a focused purpose: serve as a portal to SmartIQ, a separate destination with room for education, tools, and a clearer next step.

Fathom remained the brokerage connection. SmartIQ became the primary destination.

02 / A different kind of guide

From reading to doing.

Fathom's original buyer guide offered useful information in a static PDF. I wanted people to do more than read through steps: to think about their circumstances, answer useful questions, and find a clearer way forward.

A more useful starting point.

I developed three interactive guides, using AI-assisted development, that invite people to answer questions, consider relevant information, and identify what to explore next. The guides address first-time buyers, returning buyers, and sellers.

The source guide informed the subject matter; the interactive approach was a new experience rather than a reproduction of its design.

02 / PARTICIPATIONInvite people to think.

Questions turn a generic reading experience into something more personal.

A clear structure makes complex decisions easier to explore.

03 / Connected brand system

Different questions.
One recognizable identity.

The guides were only one part of SmartIQ. Kelvin independently created proprietary tools to address different questions in the homebuying process. My contribution was guiding their look and feel so they belonged to the same visual family as the website and guides.

AffordabilityIQ

Kelvin's proprietary affordability-planning tool helps visitors explore financial scenarios. I guided its visual alignment with the SmartIQ identity.

AreaIQ

Kelvin's proprietary location-research tool explores context around a home. I helped keep its typography, color, and interface presentation consistent with SmartIQ.

The tools and their functionality are Kelvin's work. My role was visual brand consistency, not tool creation or development.

04 / My contribution

Keeping the whole experience clear.

My work encompassed the SmartIQ website strategy and creative direction, information organization, the conception and development of interactive guides, educational content decisions, testing, and refinement.

AI played a substantial role in implementing the website and interactive guides. I directed the concepts, structure, content, visual decisions, evaluation, and revisions; I don't present the underlying code as independently hand-developed.

Kelvin contributed his real estate knowledge and created the proprietary AffordabilityIQ and AreaIQ tools independently. For those tools, I guided the visual consistency with the broader SmartIQ brand.

Creative reflection

The goal wasn’t more information.
It was a better way through it.

What started as an attempt to improve a brokerage webpage became a more coherent place to explore, understand, and take a useful next step.
